UK: Off-grid accommodation company Unyoked announced a 10-year partnership with Forestry England to roll out its minimalist cabins across woodland sites nationwide, marking a significant expansion of nature-based short-term rentals in the UK.
The initiative, launching in early 2026, will begin with five off-grid cabins at the first location, followed by 25 additional units across five sites later in the year. Each cabin will be located in secluded areas within Forestry England-managed woodlands to give guests privacy and an immersive nature experience.
The partnership aimed to help more people access the wellbeing benefits of time spent in nature, including stress reduction and improved mental clarity. Research conducted by Unyoked and AllTrails in 2024 found that guests who stayed in Unyoked cabins reported a 50 per cent greater improvement in wellbeing compared to traditional wellness interventions such as mindfulness or art therapy.
Cam Grant, co-founder of Unyoked, said: “This partnership with Forestry England is a significant milestone in our mission to make nature a habitual, accessible part of everyday life. It will expand our current off-grid cabin offering in the UK, giving nature-seekers the opportunity to stay in the nation’s forests and experience the benefits of slowing down.”
Mike Seddon, chief executive of Forestry England, added: “We are thrilled to partner with Unyoked on this initiative, which will help more people experience the nation’s forests in new and meaningful ways. Like us, Unyoked puts sustainability at the heart of its business, and these low-impact cabins will provide tranquil, restorative stays in nature.”
