US: On Tuesday, Vrbo announced it will offer last-minute deals through its app and website on private vacation rental bookings.
Nearly 300,000 last-minute deals are now live on Vrbo, and travellers can book these discounted rates within 30 days of check-in.
The deals can be found under the “last minute booking” filter on the Vrbo app or website. Discounted rental properties are also marked with a “last minute” badge, which displays the total amount of money travellers could save on that booking.
This announcement comes just before the Fourth of July, a popular time for individuals to go on a vacation.
Larry Plawsky, general manager at Vrbo, said: “The Fourth of July is one of the busiest travel times of the year, but it’s not too late to book a vacation home to enjoy the holiday – even in our most popular destinations. Last Minute Deals give families a great way to save on summer vacation, while helping hosts keep their properties booked year-round. It’s a win-win.”
A few of Vrbo’s top last-minute deals offerings for the summer include:
- Cape Cod, Massachusetts
- Florida’s 30A beaches
- Hilton Head, South Carolina
- Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
- San Diego, California
The last-minute booking announcement comes one month after Vrbo added a “no hidden fees” pop-up on its website and app, pledging to post all the total price, including fees, up-front in the listing price.
These deals also come a few weeks after Vrbo launched its global promotions suite, hoping to attract a broader range of travellers.
