UK: The founder and former owner of Chester-based holiday cottage rental agency Sykes Holiday Cottages has launched a new luxury self-catering business – Catch The Breeze Retreats.

Based in Tarporley, also in Cheshire, Catch The Breeze Retreats has been launched by Clive Sykes, who founded Sykes Holiday Cottages in 1991 and helped to grow it into one of the UK’s leading independent holiday cottage rental agencies.

His latest venture offers a handpicked portfolio of five high-end holiday lets, or “stylish luxury retreats”, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Northumberland Coast and Snowdonia National Park.

The portfolio includes seaside holiday homes and country cottages, as well as a detached country estate [Oughtershaw Hill].

Sykes and his team have also purchased a former mill on the Northumberland Coast, located near Beadnell and surrounded by land owned by The National Trust. The mill will be converted into a holiday let, with a completion date set for 2023.

The founder said that he launched Catch The Breeze Retreats because “it’s in my blood”.

Sykes told Insider Media Limited: “The vast depth of knowledge and experience gained over the years combined with my sheer passion for great holiday experiences has led me to this point. Many people have historically felt that self-catering holiday options here in the UK were boring when compared with exotic alternatives abroad, but that couldn’t be further from the truth in my opinion.

“There is so much to discover right here in the UK, often within only a couple of hours from your doorstep, and I’m looking forward to sharing some hidden gems and new locations with you,” he added.

Be in the know.
