Netherlands: Hospitality technology platform Mews has announced a new integration allowing hotel guests to access their room keys via Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, removing the need for separate apps or physical key cards.
The update enables guests to unlock their rooms by tapping their phone or smartwatch similar to using a digital boarding pass or event ticket. This functionality is now available in select properties and will be rolled out more widely in the coming months.
The integration uses the digital wallet infrastructure already installed on most devices. The company says this approach is expected to increase guest adoption and reduce issues related to lost or demagnetised key cards.
The move supports a growing shift toward contactless check-in and mobile-first guest experiences across the hospitality industry.
