Germany: Vacation rental platform Holidu has acquired long-standing booking portal Finca Mallorca to strengthen its footprint on the Balearic island.
The acquisition will see Holidu, headquartered in Munich, integrate around 200 exclusive listings from Finca Mallorca – a specialist in high-end rentals on the island – into its platform. The deal is set to enhance Holidu’s premium offering while expanding visibility for both hosts and guests.
Founded in 1994, Cologne-based Finca Mallorca has grown into one of the most recognisable brands for finca-style properties in Mallorca. “Finca Mallorca is a strong brand with loyal customers and an exceptional portfolio,” said Johannes Siebers, co-founder and CEO of Holidu. “We are thrilled to include these exclusive properties in our portfolio.”
The partnership will allow existing hosts on Finca Mallorca to benefit from Holidu’s booking infrastructure and distribution channels, including 27 partner sites. Hosts will also have access to instant bookability, payment processing, automated guest registration, and local support from Holidu’s Mallorca-based team. Properties will continue to be listed on Finca Mallorca’s own site, maintaining brand continuity.
Guests, meanwhile, will benefit from a smoother booking experience and wider property selection, with the integration designed to improve usability.
Finca Mallorca’s founder and managing director Susanne Jachmich said: “Through the partnership with Holidu, we can offer guests greater reliability and a much broader selection of rentals. Our hosts gain access to an innovative platform and a partner who knows the market and is present locally.”
Holidu first entered the Mallorcan market in 2016 and now manages around 3,000 rentals across the Balearics. A team of ten on the island supports hosts with onboarding, listings, and operational queries.
“Mallorca is one of our key markets,” Siebers added. “Many hosts in the Balearics already use our technology to increase bookings and save time. These types of acquisitions add value to our portfolio and strengthen our position in the regions we focus on.”
The company also shared key booking insights from the region. According to Holidu, 28 per cent of bookings in 2024 were made three to six months in advance, with a growing trend for last-minute travel expected in 2025. Bookings for larger groups (more than six guests) made up 30 per cent of this year’s reservations, while the average length of stay in peak season is set to rise from eight to nine days.
Hosts are increasingly prioritising pools, air conditioning, and internet access, while 53 per cent plan moderate price increases in 2025 due to rising costs. Inflation and bureaucracy remain key challenges for Balearic hosts, with 87 per cent reporting increased paperwork due to regulation.
Holidu surveyed 561 vacation rental hosts in Spain in February 2025, with booking and pricing data collected in March. The company manages more than 50,000 rentals across Europe and attracts over 100 million visitors annually.
Key takeaways:
- Holidu expands premium vacation rental portfolio in Mallorca through Finca Mallorca acquisition.
- Mallorca short-term rental trends for 2025 show demand for group stays, pools and last-minute bookings.
