US: Casago San Diego has expanded its portfolio to manage more than 150 coastal vacation homes previously operated by Vacasa, marking a major growth step for the franchise in Southern California.
The Casago San Diego franchise is led by Carlsbad locals Dave Carter, Bert King, and Erik Trogden, who bring more than 35 years of combined experience in real estate sales, investment and property management. The trio joined Casago’s franchise network in 2022 and have since earned recognition as Airbnb Superhosts and Vrbo Premier Partners.
The transition forms part of Casago’s strategy to bring former Vacasa markets under local franchise leadership, shifting away from centralised oversight in favour of local operators backed by Casago’s national technology and systems.
Carter said: “Our journey with Casago started as guests. For more than a decade, my family vacationed at Casago-managed homes in Santa Barbara, and those experiences left a lasting impression. From the start, it was clear that Casago shared our values, an owner-centric mindset and a genuine commitment to five-star guest care.”
Casago founder and CEO Steve Schwab added: “What makes this transition meaningful isn’t just the homes, it’s the people stepping in to manage them. Dave, Bert, and Erik aren’t outsiders. They’ve lived in this community for years, they’ve earned trust here, and they are consistently delivering exceptional five-star guest experiences. This is what the Casago model is all about: putting local leaders in charge.”
The move adds to Casago’s recent momentum as it integrates Vacasa’s former markets and strengthens its franchise network across North America.
