US: Short-term rental operator Avantstay has acquired the Los Angeles assets of VacationHomes365, as it looks to strengthen its presence across Los Angeles County.

The deal, which was finalised in 2024 for a confidential seven-figure sum, marks a strategic move for Avantstay to grow its footprint in Southern California, particularly in the Los Angeles market — an area previously underrepresented in its national portfolio despite being the location of its corporate headquarters.

Founded by serial entrepreneur Steven Barbarich, VacationHomes365 has operated in both Los Angeles and Orange County for several years, earning a reputation for hands-on property management and consistent guest experience.

“This acquisition is a strategic move for Avantstay,” said Barbarich. “We’ve spent years building a solid brand in the city of Los Angeles — a very important region which Avantstay lacked in its national portfolio.”

As part of the agreement, VacationHomes365 owners and guests will transition to Avantstay’s tech-enabled platform, which focuses on delivering consistent hospitality and operational efficiency.

Barbarich continues to run a smaller Airbnb property management business in Southern California under the name GetawayNests.com, while also consulting with homeowners on optimising short-term rental performance.

The acquisition forms part of Avantstay’s wider strategy to consolidate its position in key US leisure and urban markets through targeted growth and operational integration.
