US: Airbnb’s first global live music partnership with Lollapalooza launched in Chicago this week, offering exclusive experiences for guests during the festival.
The initiative, run in collaboration with Live Nation, will expand to Berlin, São Paulo, Mumbai and The Town (São Paulo) later this year, according to Airbnb.
Under the programme, Airbnb guests can access curated experiences during the festivals, including behind-the-scenes access, artist meet-and-greets, photography workshops, and lounge spaces branded as Airbnb “Havens”.
The partnership aims to connect travel and entertainment more closely while creating opportunities for hosts during high-demand events. Airbnb reported that during Lollapalooza 2024, Chicago hosts earned more than US $2.5 million collectively, welcoming over 16,000 guests.
The Lollapalooza partnership signals the platforms move beyond accommodation into the experience economy, positioning the company to capture additional value through live entertainment tie-ins.
Analysts suggest these initiatives could help Airbnb drive demand during major events while offering hosts revenue upside through premium stays linked to curated activities.
