UK: Amanda Cupples, the general manager for UK and Northern Europe at Airbnb, is stepping down from the role after four years next week.

An Airbnb spokesperson said: “Amanda Cupples, general manager of Northern Europe, is leaving Airbnb to pursue new opportunities, effective from next week. We are grateful for her significant contributions to our company over the past four years and wish her the best in future endeavours.”

Cupples, who was appointed to the position covering the UK, Ireland, Netherlands and the Nordics back in March 2021, joined the home-sharing company from digital health firm Babylon Health, where she held the roles of chief commercial officer [CCO] and chief operating office vice president of business performance.

Prior to that, she worked in the music and entertainment industries, as well as at McKinsey & Company.

Airbnb has confirmed that Emmanuel Marill, director of Airbnb EMEA, will take over the regional GM role in the interim period, while a successor to Cupples will be announced in the coming months.

In its recently announced fourth quarter 2024 earnings report, the company reported a 12 per cent year-on-year rise in revenue, as well as a net income of $461 million, compared to a $349 million loss the year before.

Cupples was also a speaker at IHM’s annual Urban Living Festival in 2022, when she spoke on a panel about how flexible living is shaping the future of urban accommodation.
