UK: Luxury self-catering collection Premier Cottages has launched a new Accessibility Scheme to make cottage holidays across the UK more inclusive for guests with a wide range of access needs.

The scheme builds on the framework of VisitEngland’s accessibility questionnaire and provides detailed, transparent information across seven categories, helping guests find properties that meet their individual requirements.

Owners taking part in the scheme must complete the Key Accessibility Features Questionnaire, self-assess which categories their property meets, and commit to maintaining accurate, up-to-date access information. Categories include Reduced Mobility, Assisted or Independent Wheelchair Use, and Visual or Hearing Impairments.

Each participating property features a downloadable accessibility questionnaire in its listing, and guests can use Premier Cottages’ website filters to search by accessibility category.

Recognising that many guests with accessibility needs are not always the ones making the booking, Premier Cottages has also introduced a 14-day cancellation period. Guests who find a property unsuitable for their specific requirements after booking can cancel within two weeks and receive a full refund.

Dylan Edwards, marketing director at Premier Cottages, said: “We’re committed to making UK cottage holidays more inclusive and accessible. By creating a transparent, guest-focused scheme, we’re helping travellers with specific needs find properties that genuinely work for them, while supporting owners to showcase their accessibility features clearly and honestly.”

The Premier Cottages Accessible Cottages Collection features wheelchair-friendly cottages, step-free properties, and homes adapted for guests with mobility, visual, or hearing impairments across the UK.
