Marriott launches Outdoors platform and new brand

US: Marriott International has announced the launch of Marriott Bonvoy Outdoors, a new digital platform designed to connect travellers with outdoor-focused stays and experiences.

The platform allows users to search across more than 450 hotels, 50,000 Homes & Villas, and curated tours and activities linked to outdoor pursuits such as skiing, hiking, surfing, and scuba diving.

Alongside the launch, Marriott has unveiled the Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy, a brand featuring cabins, boutique hotels, and other design-led properties located near outdoor destinations. Initial brands include Postcard Cabins, with more than 1,200 cabins across 29 US locations, and Trailborn Hotels, which is opening properties in areas such as the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Grand Canyon, and Wrightsville Beach in North Carolina.

To support the launch, Marriott has partnered with filmmaker and adventurer Dylan Efron on the Drop Pin Challenge, a campaign that places map pins in 20 outdoor destinations across the US and Canada, with Marriott Bonvoy points on offer for participants.

The company is also working with Outside Interactive to expand its Marriott Bonvoy Moments programme, adding outdoor-focused experiences.

Peggy Roe, executive vice president and chief customer officer at Marriott International, said: “Travel is at its best when it speaks to who we are and what we love. With the new Outdoor Collection by Marriott Bonvoy and our curated Moments, we’re opening doors to experiences that inspire and connect.”

Last December, Marriott signed founding deals with outdoor lodging brands Postcard Cabins and Trailborn, giving Bonvoy loyalty members more choice in nature-focused stays.
