US: Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky has outlined plans for the company to become an “AI-first application”, with autonomous agents able to plan trips, manage bookings and provide real-time support.
The announcement, made during Airbnb’s Q2 2025 earnings call on 7 August, followed the release of results showing double-digit revenue growth and steady global demand. Chesky said that the company’s AI-powered customer service agent has reduced the need for human intervention by 15 per cent.
The next stage will involve the expansion of AI capabilities to include trip planning, itinerary suggestions and booking changes.
The system will integrate with Airbnb’s growing portfolio of services, including in-home chefs, wellness treatments and curated activities, as part of its “beyond the core” strategy.
The platform also plans to expand AI integration to offer improved language support with the aim on enhancing accessibility on a global scale.
