US: Travel metasearch engine Kayak has introduced a suite of artificial intelligence-driven features designed to enhance the travel planning experience.
Among the innovations is “Kayak PriceCheck,” an image recognition tool that allows users to upload a screenshot of a flight itinerary from any site. The platform then scans hundreds of sites to determine if a lower price is available. This feature aims to simplify the process of finding the best flight deals by leveraging AI to interpret and compare itinerary details.
Another addition is “Ask Kayak,” a natural language search capability that enables users to input specific travel preferences, such as preferred airlines, departure times, and price ranges. This tool is designed to provide more personalised and intuitive search results, moving beyond traditional filtering systems.
Additional features include “Provider Quality Scores,” which rate online travel agencies on factors like price accuracy and customer service, and a ticket comparison tool that outlines what is included in different fare classes. Kayak has also updated its “Kayak Trips” itinerary view to offer real-time travel updates and a simplified interface.
The move aligns with a broader trend among travel platforms embracing artificial intelligence to enhance user experience. In recent months, several companies have introduced AI-driven features including Hostaway and Apaleo.
